Gold price at a record high in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Jewelers' Association has decided to increase the price of gold up by Tk 1,400 per bhori (11.664 grams) in the country's market. As a result, the price of good quality or 22-carat gold will be Tk 1 lakh 12 thousand 441. Which is the highest price of gold in the country's history. The new prices will be effective from Thursday (January 18).

Jewelers Association on Wednesday (January 17) issued a press note declaring the price hike.

The price of Tejabi Gold (Pure Gold) has increased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation, the notification said.

According to new price per bhori of 22- carat gold would be worth Tk 1 lakh 12 thousand 441. And the price of 21-carat gold will be fixed at Tk 1 lakh 7 thousand 308, 18-carat gold at Tk 92,029 and traditional gold at Tk 76,632 per bhori.

Earlier the Bangladesh Jewellers Association revised the price of gold on December 23 last year. It came into effect on December 24. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was fixed at Tk 1,11,041, 21-carat gold at Tk 1,06,026, 18-carat gold at Tk 90,863, and traditional gold at Tk 75,699 per bhori.

It is to be noted that Bajus adjusted the price of gold 29 times in 2023.
