In the first seven months of the current financial year (2023-24), Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud said that 12963 million US dollars remittances have come through expatriates.
He said this in response to a question asked by Member of Parliament for Dhaka-19 Constituency Mohammad Saiful Islam during the question and answer session of the 12th JS session presided over by Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury on Wednesday (February 28).
The Finance Minister said that 2,425 million US dollars came from the United Arab Emirates, 1,610 million US dollars from the United Kingdom, 1,601 million US dollars from Saudi Arabia, 1,332 million US dollars from the United States, 900 million US dollars from Italy, Kuwait 850 million US dollars, 841 million US dollars from Malaysia, 637 million US dollars from Qatar, 535 million US dollars from Oman, 332 million US dollars from Singapore and 1853 million US dollars from other countries.
