China has approved the import of mangoes from Bangladesh

Dhaka: The Chinese Ambassador expressed interest in importing fresh mangoes from Bangladesh last April. Within three months, China has approved the import of fresh mangoes from Bangladesh.

On Monday (July 29), the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh announced this information in a notification, saying that the General Administration of Customs of China announced this on Saturday.

The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka said on Monday that this announcement is an important step to implement the results of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China. This will create a huge Chinese consumer market for Bangladeshi high quality mangoes. At the same time, Bangladesh's export diversification will help in achieving its goals.

The Embassy said it clearly highlights the essential features of mutually beneficial and beneficial outcomes of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, on July 10, the "Protocol of Phytosanitary Requirements for Exporting Fresh Mangoes from Bangladesh to China" was signed in the presence of the top leaders of Bangladesh and China.

It is known that at the end of last April, the Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdus Shaeed during the meeting of Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador appointed in Dhaka had detailed discussions and plans regarding the export of mangoes were taken. In that meeting, it was said that China wants to buy mangoes from Bangladesh this year.

Note that according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, mango production is increasing every year in Bangladesh. Mango production in the 2021-22 financial year was 12 lakh tonnes. And in the last financial year 2022-23, the production has increased to about 15 lakh tonnes.
