For the sake of security, the limit of withdrawing money from the bank has been increased to Taka 3 lakh. In the new week starting from Sunday (August 18), no cash withdrawal of more than Tk. 3 lakh can be drawn by check from any bank. This rule will be applicable till further instructions.

In an urgent message sent by Bangladesh Bank on Saturday (August 17) night, the managing directors of public and private banks have been given this instruction. The managing director of several banks confirmed this information to the media.

As per the guidelines, a customer cannot withdraw more than Tk. 3 lakh in cash. But you can transfer any amount of money to another account and do digital transactions.

It is known that after the change of government, the pressure of cash withdrawal increased slightly. The pressure to withdraw cash is seen especially from pro-Awami politicians and business families. Bangladesh Bank has decided to discourage the withdrawal of cash so that these funds are not used in any way for terrorist or illegal activities.

Earlier on August 10, it was said that no more than Tk. two lakh cash can be withdrawn from the account. Before that, on August 8, the customer could not withdraw more than Tk. one lakh cash. On that day it was said that this instruction has been given only for one day.

Apart from this, the central bank has ordered to stop disbursement of money from the head office to the branches for today. It is also advised to encourage customers to pay by check.

An official of Bangladesh Bank said that a new government has been formed in the country. The pressure to withdraw cash increases somewhat in the changing scenario. The pressure to withdraw cash is seen especially from politicians and business families. Bangladesh Bank has decided to discourage cash withdrawal to some extent so that these funds are not used for terrorist or illegal activities.
