After several rounds of increase, the price of gold in the country's market has decreased by Tk. 1621. In this, the price of gold per 22 carat has decreased to Tk. 1 lakh 26 thousand 321.
Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) in a press release on Sunday (September 1) informed about the drop in gold prices. The new prices will be effective from Monday.
It is said that the price of acid gold (pure gold) has decreased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation.
According to the new price, per bhari (11.664 grams) of 22 carat gold will cost Tk. 1 lakh 26 thousand 321. Apart from this, the price of gold has been set at Tk. 1 lakh 20 thousand 582 per 21 carat, Tk. 1 lakh 3 thousand 355 per 18 carat and Tk. 85 thousand 450 per traditional gold.
Bajus also said that a government-mandated 5 percent VAT and a Bajus-mandated minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wages may vary depending on the design and quality of the jeweler.
Earlier, Bajus last adjusted gold prices in the domestic market on August 25. At that time, the organization had increased the price by Tk.1 thousand 936 to Tk.1 lakh 27 thousand 942 for a 22 carat gold bar. Besides, the price of gold was fixed at Tk. 1 lakh 22 thousand 122 per 21 carat, Tk. 1 lakh 4 thousand 684 per 18 carat and Tk. 86 thousand 547 per traditional gold which was effective from last August 26.
It should be noted that the price of gold has been adjusted 37 times in the country's market so far this year. Where the price has been increased 21 times, and reduced 16 times. And in 2023, the price was adjusted 29 times.
