World Bank to help reform banking sector: Finance Adviser

Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that the World Bank will help in other areas including reforms in the banking sector of Bangladesh.

He said this after a meeting with Martin Reiser, Vice President of South Asia Region of the World Bank at the Secretariat on Thursday (September 19).

The Finance Adviser said, 'We have reformed the banking sector, the World Bank will help us in export and promotion. They will help us reform and we will get help.'

He said that increasing investment in the private sector and business and trade issues were also discussed.

The Adviser said that various projects have been discussed with the vice president of the South Asia region of the World Bank and his team. Budget support, energy sector cooperation, fertilizer import, food, and post-flood cooperation was discussed.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that Rohingya support was also discussed.

He said, "All the proposals we have made are very positive and fairly concrete." Others will also coordinate with the World Bank. They will have no qualms about funds and anything else.
