The leading commercial bank of the country, BRAC Bank Limited, has partnered with Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) for tree plantation at Mirsarai Economic Zone in Chattogram.
BRAC Bank is to provide financial support for a massive forestation project in the premises of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar at Mirsarai. With the zone’s proximity to the Bay of Bengal, the forestation project, covering 500 acres of land, will help protect the coastal belt as well as add to its beautification.
With an area of 30,000 acres of land, the Shilpanagar at Mirsarai is the most modern economic zones of Bangladesh with world-class business and industrial centres and facilities. The special economic zone is projected to generate 1.5 million employment and USD 15 billion export earnings in next 15 years.
As a token of the partnership, Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Deputy Managing Director and CRO, BRAC Bank, handed over saplings to Paban Chowdhury, Executive Chairman (Secretary), BEZA.
