Stocks continued to fall on Monday (Dec.9) as foreign investors were selling off in droves amid panic sales by general investors, sending the benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse to a 39-month low.
Institutional investors were also on the sidelines due to a fund crisis, market analysts and stake holders said. The DSEX, the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s key index, suffered losses for the third straight day yesterday, plunging by 62.25 points before closing at 4,533.75.
Under theses circumstances the board of directors of DSE sat in an emergency to get recovered from this situation.
In this emergency meeting they took decision to get recovery from this bleeding of the stock market they will hold meeting with the Finance Minister AHM Mostofa Kamal and Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir. In the DSE chairman Abul Hashem will present the market situation and proposals for sustainable development.
DSE director rakibur Rahman has confirmed it to barta24.com. He said that it was decided in the board meeting of DSE that the present problems will be put up the the Finance Minister and BB governor.
