Bangladesh Bank(BB) has directed to keep all branches of the bank open in industrial areas next Saturday (July 25) for the purpose of paying salaries and allowances to garment workers.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Department of Off-site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday (July 22).
It has been said that in order to facilitate the sale of export bills by various organizations related to the garment industry before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha and payment of salaries, bonuses and other allowances to the workers-employees-officers working in the industry, Dhaka metropolis, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and it was directed to take appropriate measures to keep the branches of Scheduled Bank in Chattogram open next Saturday all day ensuring adequate security for the garment industry related branches.
It is to be noted that the clearing arrangement of Bangladesh Bank will be open on that day. However, in the interest of smooth operation of the clearing system, checks cannot be issued at any bank branch located outside the above area and such checks will be duly dishonored.
