The Kolkata High Court has directed the police to assist in the investigation into allegations of aiding and abetting Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty. The Kolkata High Court passed the verdict on Friday (June 11) in a hearing dismissing a case filed by the Trinamool Congress against Mithun.
Mithun Chakraborty has termed the Trinamool Congress case against him as politically motivated. His lawyer appealed to the Kolkata High Court to dismiss the case. The case was heard in the Kolkata High Court on Friday. After the hearing, the judge directed the Mithun to assist in the investigation into allegations of aiding and abetting violence. The next hearing of the case will be next Friday.
At the hearing, the judge said that even if Mithun does not appear in court on the next hearing day, it will continue. However, the police must provide overall assistance in the investigation. If necessary, the police can ask through video conference. For this, Mithun was asked to give his e-mail ID.
The Trinamool Congress has lodged an FIR against Mithun Chakraborty at Maniktala police station in Kolkata. Mithun campaigned for the BJP in the recently held Assembly elections in West Bengal, India. At that time, he made provocative statements. On May 6, the Trinamool lodged such a complaint at the police station.
According to the Trinamool, Mithun Chakraborty came to the BJP campaign and made various provocative statements against the Trinamool. Helped to wage violence. In particular, he tried to disrupt communal harmony and disturb the peace in the state through provocative statements. He even spread hatred between different groups and communities.
Mithun Chakraborty's lawyer Bikash Singh said the case was filed against Mithun Chakraborty for making political allegations. There is no truth to this allegation. He further said that if the election rules had been violated in Mithun Chakraborty's speech, then the Election Commission would have issued a notice against Mithun. But no notice was given to Mithun Chakraborty from the Election Commission.
Lawyer Bikash Singh said he used the dialogue of his own acting film in the polls. That dialogue has already been approved by the censor board. So this allegation is also baseless and unreasonable. Mithun Chakraborty used these dialogues when he was a Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP.
