Bangladesh Film Artistes' Welfare Trust Bill, 2021 was passed in Parliament on Saturday.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud proposed to pass the bill and the parliament endorsed the bill through voice votes.
Earlier in the morning the parliament resumed with speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Before passing the bill, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud said Bangladesh Film Artistes' Welfare Trust Bill, 2021 placed in the parliament in order to form an organizational structure for the wellbeing of the country's film artists.
The information and broadcasting minister said a film about Bangabandhu jointly initiated by Bangladesh and India and directed by Indian director Shyam Benegal will be released this year.
Lawmaker Peer Fazlur Rahman, Begum Raushan Ara Mannan, Shamim Haider Patwari, Harunur Rashid, Mujibul Haque, Kazi Firoz Rashid and other lawmakers took part in the discussion before passing the bill.
Meanwhile, chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Shipping Major Retired Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttam presented second report of the committee today.
Besides, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq placed Demarcation of Parliamentary Constituencies Bill, 2021 and Gandhi Ashram Trustee Board Bill, 2021.
Later, two bills were sent to the parliamentary standing committee of concerned ministries for scrutinizes.
Earlier, deputy leader of the parliament GM Quader addressed his concluding speech.
In his speech, GM Quader urged the government to introduce ICU units and oxygen at upazila level across the country for corona patients.
Meanwhile, three new lawmakers made their inaugural speech in the parliament.
