The body of actress Raima Islam Shimu (45) has been recovered in a packed condition. Her body was recovered and kept in the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital in Dhaka.
On Monday (January 17) morning, Keraniganj police recovered her packed body from near Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj.
Keraniganj Model Police Station Officer in Charge (OC)Md. Abu Salam Mia confirmed the information and said that the body of a woman named Raima Islam Shimu was recovered from Keraniganj around 10 am. He said her body was kept in the morgue of Mitford Hospital for autopsy.
Actress Sadia Mirza told the media that the police had informed that the body of heroine Shimu had been recovered. The cause of death was not immediately known.
Shimu made her silver screen debut in 1998 with Kazi Hayat's 'Bartaman'. She has acted in more than 50 plays one by one. Besides acting, the audience also got her on screen as a producer. Her film and drama career spanned more than two decades.
She was also active as a producer. Shimu had worked with many talented directors in Bangladesh. The list includes Chashi Nazrul Islam, Delwar Jahan Jhantu, AJ Rana, Sharifuddin Khan Dwipu, Enayet Karim, Shabnam Parveen.
She had acted with many talented and popular actors including Riaz, Amit Hasan, Bapparaj, Zahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim, Shakib Khan.
