During the most brutal night in history, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with most of his family members and close relatives, was brutally murdered, leaving only two daughters alive.
Sheikh Russel, witnessing the massacre firsthand, heard the agonizing cries of his loved ones, including his father, mother, two elder brothers, and sisters-in-law, as they were mercilessly slain. Among Bangabandhu's family, Sheikh Russel was the final victim of the assassins. His last words before his untimely demise were 'I want to go to my mother' and 'Bring me to Hasu Apa.
Although this harrowing event is etched in history, playwright Sahid Rahman is now set to depict this tragedy on a larger scale through a telefilm titled 'Aami Mayer Kachhe Jabo (I want to go to my mother).' The story will be brought to life with visuals for the first time, aiming to provide a comprehensive portrayal of the events.
The contract signing and poster unveiling for the telefilm took place on Wednesday, March 6, at the Officers Club, with Shahid Rahman, telefilm director Hasan Rezaul, creative director Prasoon Rahman, child artist Dihan portraying Sheikh Russel, renowned actress Jyotika Jyoti as Bangamata, actor Christiano Tanmoy as Sheikh Kamal, and other notable figures including Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua in attendance.
The shooting for the telefilm is scheduled to commence on May 10, with plans for its premiere on June 16 in Kolkata and Delhi, India. The production aims to be completed before the premiere, followed by a grand premiere show in Dhaka.
Spanning 10 years of Sheikh Russel's life, the 90-minute telefilm 'Aami Mayer Kachhe Jabo (I want to go to my mother)' will delve into his experiences and attempt to recreate them in a creative and compelling narrative. Adapted from Sahid Rahman's novel 'Mohamanober Deshe,' the telefilm will adopt a biographical genre.
The ensemble cast also includes Shakil Ahmed as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sadia Ayman as Sheikh Hasina, Sharif Siraj as Sheikh Jamal, Tanjika Amin as Sheikh Russel's home teacher Geetali, and Dolly Johur as the laboratory school headmistress.
