Dhaka (Barta 24.com): The legendary musician of the country Subir Nandi went to a place where no one returns from there. This great vocalist, winner of Ekushey Padak breathed his last at Singapore General hospital in the small hours of Tuesday (May7).
On Wednesday morning the dead body of Subir Nandi reached Dhaka. The body was taken to central Shahid Minar to allow the people to pay their last respect to him. The people also paid homage to this great musician by placing floral wreaths.
Later on the body was taken to FDC where his old colleagues, friends and co-artists paid last respect to him. From there the dead body was taken to Ramakrishna Mission. In the afternoon his body will be cremated at Sabujbag crematory ground, told his only daughter Mou Nandi.
Mou expressed her gratitude to every body and sought their blessings for the salvation of the departed soul of her father Subir Nandi. She also saluted the Prime Minister who expressed sympathy to the family of Subir Nandi by sending text message.
Subir Nandi was born on November 19, 1953 in the Nandi para village of Baniachang upazilla of Hobiganj district. He made his first program on Sylhet radio in 1967. He got chance in Dhaka radio in 1970. His first song in the radio was,’Jodi keu Dhup jele daea.”
Subir Nandi also sang in Television and then entered into filmdom music arena. His first solo album was published in 1981. His first song in the film was in ‘Surjya grahan’ directed by Azizur Rahman. Next film was ‘Ashikkhita’ directed by Azizur Rahman. His duel song with Sabina Yasmin ‘Master Sab Ami Nam Dastakhat Shikhtey Chai’ got huge popularity at that time.
Subir Nandi in his 40 year career sang more than 2500 songs. As recognition he got national film award for five times.
