The recent decision by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government to revoke the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir by scrapping Article 370 has put the region in utter turmoil and chaos.
While the government forces are working towards peace and stability of the region, people all across the country are hopeful that the situation will ease shortly. Bollywood celebs too have been very expressive since the beginning and have voiced their support for the prosperity of the region.
In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, actress Sonam Kapoor expressed her views about the situations in the valley and shed some light on her family's cultural ties with Pakistan. The actress admitted that she wasn't aware of the true situation in the valley due to contrasting and contrary news everywhere.
Talking about Kashmir, Sonam said that it’s heartbreaking to see where the situation has landed right now. The actress reiterated that she is very patriotic, so for her, it’s better to keep quiet now and let this phase pass. The actress further said that she hopes there is a peaceful way of working things out because it’s a beautiful place that has been under so much duress.
The 'Neerja' actress said that she is half Sindhi and half Peshawari. The actress claimed that it's very heartbreaking for her that she can't explore part of her culture because of the tense relations.
Talking about the move from Pakistan to ban Indian films, Sonam expressed her displeasure saying that her film 'Neerja' wasn't screened in Pakistan despite it didn't show the country in a negative light.
