Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached a historic peace agreement which is likely to normalize relations between the two countries.

The news was published on Thursday (August 13) by the international media BBC Online.

US President Donald Trump has said that Israel and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to normalize relations.

In a joint statement, US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed hope that the historic agreement would bring peace in the Middle East.

The accord would suspend plans to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank to Israel.

Until now, Israel has had no diplomatic relations with the Gulf Arab states.

But concerns about partnership over Iran's regional influence are the cause of an informal communication between them.

In response to Trump's announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted in Hebrew on the historic day.

The White House said the new agreement was named the Abraham Agreement in light of the 1994 peace agreement signed between Israel and Jordan.
