Along with Joe Biden who has been elected 46th president of the USA his running mate Kamala Harris is going to be the first black and female vice president in the history of the United States. For the first time in America's 250-year history, a black woman has become a new vice president.

Malala Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Oakland, California. Father Donald J. Harris is of Jamaican descent and mother is of Indian descent. They are both scientists. Kamala's mother Shyamla Gopalan joined the University of Illinois as a breast cancer researcher. When the parents separated, the mother was basically the shadow of the orange.

Kamala was elected the first black woman and attorney general of California of South Asian descent (2010) and served two years.

Only two women have run for vice presidency in American history. Sarah Palin for the Republican Party in 2008, and Geraldine Ferraro for the Democratic Party in 1984. However none was elected.
