Powerful cyclone ‘Vamco’ has killed at least 42 people in the Philippines. At least 20 others are missing. The BBC quoted the Philippine police as saying.
The storm continued until Thursday morning after hitting the island area of Luzon on Wednesday (November 11) night. Due to this, floods have occurred in the area. There was a landslide. The communication system has collapsed due to the cyclone. Many have fled their homes to seek safe refuge. Police and other emergency personnel are engaged in the rescue operation.
According to the Associated Press, more than 3.5 lakh people have been evacuated since the cyclone hit. Most are inhabitants of coastal areas. Government offices and school classes were closed on Friday due to the cyclone.
