BSF recovers huge arms from Mizoram

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons from the Indian state of Mizoram, which borders the hilly region of Bangladesh.

BSF DIG Kuldeep Singh confirmed the incident. He said that according to the intelligence agencies, SHQ, BSF Udaipur (Tripura) conducted a search in Aizawl area and recovered the weapons.

The operation was launched this week under the command of Captain SK Pillai, 2nd Battalion, BSF's 90th Battalion.

During the operation, the Indian Border Security Force recovered five magazines, 28 AK-47s, one AK-56 and one AK-74 rifle, 4,491 rounds of ammunition, Rupees 39,000 in cash and other equipment from two check posts in Mizoram.

Indian intelligence said the weapons could be used by insurgent groups in northern India and Maoist insurgents in central India.
