India bans Covishield export

The government of India has banned the export of Oxford- Astrazeneca originated Covishield coronavirus vaccine produced by the Seram Institute of India.

As a result, neighbouring poor countries may have to wait a few more months for the first dose of the corona vaccine.

In an interview with the international media on Sunday (January 3), Adar Punawalla, CEO of the Seram Institute, said the Indian government has imposed a ban on vaccine exports in the next few months so that Indians can get the vaccine properly.He said the decision was taken to ensure dosing for the people of India who are at risk of corona.
