Bangladeshi-American Zain Siddique to hold high post in Biden administration

Zain Siddique, a US citizen of Bangladeshi descent, has been appointed to the White House Deputy Chief of Staff.

US President-elect Joe Biden announced the name of Zain Siddique as a senior adviser to the White House Deputy Chief of Staff on Wednesday (January 13) local time.

No Bangladeshi has ever held such a high position in the US administration. Although of Bangladeshi descent, he grew up in New York, USA. Zain Siddique, a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, is currently the Chief of Staff of the Biden-Harris Transition Domestic and Economic Team.

Zain Siddique served as Beto O'Rourke's Deputy Policy Director for Presidential Campaign and Senior Policy Adviser for his Senate campaign. He has also served as a lawyer for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Cagan, U.S. Court of Appeals Judge David Tettel for the DC Circuit, and U.S. District Court Judge Dean Pregerson for the Central District of California.

A statement issued by the Biden Transition Team further said that qualified and experienced candidates like Zain would play a key role in the White House.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are set to take power on January 20.
