Finally, Benjamin Netanyahu's 12 years in power as Israel's prime minister came to an end.

He lost power in a vote in the country's parliament on Sunday (June 13). Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported the information in a report.

Naftali Bennett has already been sworn in as prime minister.

Bennett will serve as prime minister until September 2023, as a condition for forming an alliance. For the next two years, he will hand over power to Zaire Lapid of the moderate Yes Atid party.

Netanyahu received 59 votes in Israel's 120-seat Knesset. And 60 votes were cast in favor of forming a new coalition government. In doing so, his government lost power.

Eight opposition parties have formed a new coalition to oust Netanyahu. The coalition includes leftist, liberal, radical, nationalist and religious groups. In addition, for the first time in the country's history, an Arab Islamic party is being involved in forming a government. The opposition is going to take charge of the new government from just lead of one seat in the parliament.

Netanyahu has dominated right-wing politics in Israel for more than a decade. He is accused of choosing to attack and aggress the Palestinians in order to stay in power.
