Fatal coronavirus infections have increased in most European countries. Since the beginning of this month, the coronavirus situation has deteriorated in several countries, including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland and Austria.

Many health experts refer to it as the "fourth wave" of the pandemic coronavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) is "extremely concerned" about the sudden rise in corona disease in Europe.  BBC reports.

WHO Regional Director Dr. Hans Cluz told the BBC: "As corona infections and deaths continue to rise in Europe, at least 5 lakh more lives could be lost by next March unless immediate action is taken to stop the spread of the disease."

He said, "If precautionary measures are taken like wearing a mask, the results will be immediate." Infections are on the rise due to the winter season and lack of adequate vaccines. Delta variants may also be the reason behind the sudden increase in infections.

"The coronavirus has become the leading cause of death worldwide," said Hans Cluz. But the hope is that we now know what to fight this deadly virus. "

"Compulsory vaccination should be seen as a last resort," he said. However, no one should be involved in the debate to curtail individual freedom. We need to be socially vigilant.

The BBC reports that corona infections have been on the rise in major European countries for the past week. A booster dose of corona vaccine has been announced in Germany to control the spread of the infection. The country has also imposed restrictions on citizens to be vaccinated.

Austria's chancellor is considering legislation to make vaccination compulsory by next February. A 20-day lockdown has also been announced there. It is also forbidden to travel outside without the vaccination ID. The Austrian government has canceled all events on the occasion of the English New Year.

The Dutch government has announced a lockdown to prevent Netherlands’ corona infection. In addition, the governments of countries including Switzerland, Croatia, Italy and Austria are working to make vaccination compulsory. #

However, citizens of these European countries are angry that making vaccination compulsory is against individual freedom. They have also taken to the streets in protest of government-imposed restrictions to prevent lockdowns and infections. Protests and clashes erupted in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Saturday. Several people were shot in it.

Meanwhile, thousands of people protested in the Austrian capital, Vienna. People have taken to the streets in several Australian states to protest vaccination. As a result, the heads of government of the European countries have to retreat in the face of the protests of the citizens.
