Myanmar's military junta's objections to the Rohingya genocide case have begun at the UN Supreme Court in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The public hearing started at 6:30 pm Bangladesh time on Monday (February 21).

The two sides in the hearing are Gambia and Myanmar. In the new context, the representatives of the junta of Myanmar are taking part in the new round of hearings.

The Rohingya minority will be challenged in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for hearings on the country's genocide.

Aung San Suu Kyi, currently held by the junta, led Myanmar in the first public hearing in 2019.

In 2019, Suu Kyi led a legal team to the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands. The West African country Gambia filed a lawsuit in the International Court of Justice on November 11. The lawsuit alleges that Myanmar committed genocide with the intention of destroying the Rohingya as a community through genocide, rape and community destruction.

The ICJ held its first hearing on December 10, 2019 to hear the case filed by Gambia. Myanmar held a hearing on December 11.
