UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez is currently speaking at the agency's headquarters in New York, according to a BBC report on Wednesday (February 24).
He warned that tensions between Ukraine and Russia were a threat to the world.
Addressing the UN General Assembly on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Guterres said it was time for restraint and patience to avoid the scale and severity of the problem.
"Now is the time to establish a ceasefire and return to the path of dialogue and compromise." He further said.
Gutierrez added that he was fully committed to resolving the crisis without further bloodshed.
