Sweden itself strongly condemned the abhorrent act of burning the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm. The country called it an 'Islamophobic' act.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry made the statement after the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called to prevent all forms of desecration of the Holy Quran in the future.

The statement on Sunday (July 2) said the Swedish government is fully aware that the ‘Islamophobic’ acts of individuals during the protests in Sweden can be offensive to Muslims.

It is further said that we strongly condemn these acts. These works in no way reflect the views of the Swedish Government.

Earlier, the 57-member OIC met in Jeddah and condemned the burning of the Koran in Sweden.

Incidentally, on Thursday, June 29, an immigrant Iraqi youth and his partner burned the Holy Quran outside the mosque in Stockholm. After that, the entire Muslim world, including Turkey, erupted in anger.

Sweden's prime minister said the government does not allow any protests in his country. Because protesting is a legal right in Sweden, only the police decide whether a person will protest or not. Not politicians in administration.

Stockholm mosque officials said they were shocked that police allowed the burning of the Holy Quran. They asked the court and the police to allow them to protest elsewhere, not in front of the mosque. Burning of the Holy Quran in front of the mosque should not be allowed. But their request was not kept.
