Bomb attack on political rally in Pakistan, 39 killed

At least 39 people were killed in a bomb attack on a political rally in Pakistan's northeastern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The bomb attack took place in Bajaur district of the province on Sunday. This information is known from the reports of news agency AFP and Pakistani media The Dawn.

According to a report in The Dawn, the blast took place at a Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) rally in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Bajaur district emergency department official Saad Khan confirmed the bombing.

Confirming the casualties, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial governor Haji Ghulam Ali told AFP, "I can confirm that 39 people have been killed and 123 injured in the hospital." The condition of 17 of the injured is critical.

A top JUI-F leader, Maulana Ziaullah Jan, was also killed in the attack. A Dawn reporter present at the scene said that some local journalists were also injured in the attack.
