According to the agreement, 12 more hostages were released by the Palestinian independence organization Hamas.
They were handed over to Israeli authorities by the Red Cross on Tuesday (November 28) night local time, the fifth day of the ceasefire.
The BBC confirmed this information about the IDF, Israel's defense force.
In a statement, the IDF said 12 hostages were transferred to Egypt by representatives of the Red Cross. The vehicle carrying them is currently on its way through Egypt to the Keram Shalom meeting point. Their security representatives will verify their identity. The families of the hostages are being updated with the latest information, the statement said.
Shortly thereafter, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office also released a statement. It is mentioned that 12 other hostages have returned to Israel. The statement also mentioned the names of those released. Among them, 10 are Israelis and two are Thai citizens. Among those released included 9 women and 1 minor.
Hamas released a total of 81 hostages in the fifth phase of the ceasefire that began on Friday. On the other hand, Israeli prison authorities have released 180 Palestinians in five days, including 30 released tonight.
A four-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on November 24. Later it was extended by two more days.
