According to the media, these attacks were carried out targeting the Houthis' radar system and missiles.

In a statement against the Houthis, the Pentagon said, "Our goal is to reduce tensions and restore stability in the Red Sea. We will not hesitate to protect the free flow of life and commerce in one of the world's most critical situations."

Some warplanes from the US aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower are said to have participated in the attack on the Houthis. Earlier on Monday, US President Joe Biden spoke with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

According to the White House, Biden and Sunak discussed the attack by pro-Iranian Houthi rebels on various ships in the Red Sea. At the time, they reiterated their commitment to "unimpeded shipping, international trade and protection of navies from illegal attacks" in the waterway.
