Environment Minister's call to avoid cutting down trees in implementation of development projects

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that in the implementation of the government's development project, trees should be planted as much as possible in addition to avoiding tree cutting in the project area.

He said that the project managers who have successfully implemented the development project of the Ministry of Environment will be given recognition to the qualified officials considering their efficiency and success in performance.

The Environment Minister said these things in the chief guest's speech at the review meeting of the implementation progress of the projects included in the ADP of the ministry's 2024-25 financial year till June at the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change on Tuesday (July 30).

The Minister said that the development projects of the Ministry should be implemented on time and properly to improve the quality of the country's environment. At the beginning of the financial year, work should be done accordingly. The success rate in project implementation should be gradually increased. The Minister discussed the current status, achievements and challenges of the projects and urged all concerned to play a more responsible and effective role.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Md. Mosharraf Hossain and Dr. Fahmida Khanam, director general of the Department of Environment, Abdul Hamid and Chief Forest Conservator of Forest Department, Amir Hossain Chowdhury along with senior officials of the ministry, project managers and other concerned were present.

Officials discussed various aspects of project implementation and presented progress reports.
