The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) is using innovative tactics to prevent illegal entry of Bangladeshis through the border. Now they are being trained in bee farming.
On Monday (September 9), the country's media Hindustan Times reported this information.
In the report, the Indian media reported that last week, 10 to 12 members of BSF gathered in Kadipur village of Nadia district. There they are taught beekeeping.
According to the border guards, the 32nd battalion of BSF is in charge of the 46 km border between West Bengal and Bangladesh. They hang these boxes on the border wire. They expect the bees to attack them if anyone intrudes or approaches any smuggling barbed wire between the two countries.
Sujit Kumar, commandant of 32nd battalion, said that they started beekeeping from November 2023. It was a government project for village development. Thinking about what to do to prevent infiltration at the border led to the idea of putting beekeeping boxes in barbed wire fences.
It is to be noted that earlier the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) deployed bees on the Bangladesh border in Nadia, West Bengal. As a result, illegal infiltration through that border has come down to zero, BSF claims. Now they are being trained in beekeeping to spread this success to other units of BSF.
