Dhaka: The number of coronaviruses is constantly increasing. Most people around the world are being held hostage to prevent the virus. The number of people infected with the virus has exceeded 25 lakh across the globe. So far more than one lakh 75 thousand people died. More than 6.5 lakh people have recovered.
According to statistics from the Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the total number of infected in the world stands at 25 lakh 46 thousand 527. According to the university's website, the global pandemic of coronavirus has infected 185 countries and regions of the world so far. Of these, one lakh 75 thousand 812 people have died and 6 lakh 78 thousand 557 people have recovered.
The coronavirus originated from Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province, in December last year. Though more than 83,000 people were infected in China, the place of origin, but the outbreak has decreased there now. However, the prevalence of this virus is increasing in other countries of the world. On April 15 last, the number of people infected worldwide exceeded 20 lakh. In just six days, another five lakh people were infected and the total number of infected people has exceeded to 25 lakh.
The Johns Hopkins University reports that the highest number of victims and deaths so far is in the United States. The total number of victims there is 8 lakh 16 thousand 240. The death toll has risen to 43921. Italy is second in the death figure. The death toll in the country is 24 thousand 638. And one lakh 83 thousand 957 people were infected there.
Spain is third on the list of dead. The death toll in the country is 21,282. The total number of infected is 2 lakh 4 thousand 278.
The number of infected in France has exceeded one lakh 50 thousand. The death toll in the country was 20,238. The number of infected people in Germany is 1 lakh 48 thousand while 5 thousand 24 people have died. In the United Kingdom, 1 lakh 30 thousand were infected and the number of dead was 17 thousand 378.
In South Asia, the number of people infected in India is 18985. Of them 645 died. In Pakistan, there are 9565 have been infected while 201 died.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus a global epidemic on March 11 after the incidence of the infection increased in large numbers.
