The World Health Organization (WHO) has given an explanation on their controversial comment that there is rare chance of spreading Covid-19 from a symptomless patient.

The organization gave this explanation in a live question and answer session on social media on Tuesday (June 9).

Maria Van Kerkhov, a top official of the World Health Organization said at a news conference on Monday that the spread of coronavirus to other people through symptomless patients was very rare.

He said that this conclusion has been reached after analyzing the data sent by different countries. However, more information needs to be analyzed to be more sure about this. Based on the information available so far, such a picture can be seen. However, the official said more research is needed to take a definite decision in this regard.

On the other hand, according to data provided by researchers in other countries, including the US agency CDC, 35 percent of patients with corona have no symptoms at all.
During a live question-and-answer session on Tuesday, WHO official Maria Van Kerkhov commented on her earlier remarks. She described the matter as ‘a big unknown’.

‘We know about most about infections is that people with symptoms cause infections among others, Kerkhov said. However, there are some infected people who do not have symptoms. In fact, the number of infected people without symptoms has not yet been determined’.

‘We know some people don't have symptoms, but they are still infected’, Kerkhov said. We need to better understand how many of the victims do not have symptoms and how many of them continue to infect others.
