Dhaka: Today August 15, is the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 45th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day.
On this occasion Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to this great leader on behalf of the nation.
She paid her respects by placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 around 5:30 am on Saturday.
After that, the daughter of Bangabandhu stood in silence for a while respecting Bangabandhu. At that time, a smart group of armed forces saluted her. Then a sad tune was played on the bugle. Later, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness and peace of the souls of the martyrs on 15th August.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by her daughter Saima Wazed Hossain Putul.
Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Banani graveyard from Dhanmondi. She paid homage to the martyrs of August 15 by laying wreaths at the graves of martyrs including mother Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell.
