Court sentences woman drug dealer to life term imprisonment

Kohinur Begum, 55, a drug dealer in Rajbari, has been sentenced to life term imprisonment by a court in a drug case. Judge Nilufar Sultana of the Rajbari District and Sessions Judge's Court handed down the verdict on Tuesday (August 25) at noon.

Wazir Ali Sheikh, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the District Judge's Court, confirmed the verdict to Barta24.com.

The husband of the convicted woman Kohinur Begum is Kamruzzaman. He is a resident of Porabari area of Uttar Daulatdia village in Goaland upazilla.

Rajbari Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Wazir Ali Sheikh said the court had sentenced drug dealer Kohinur Begum to life term imprisonment after a lengthy hearing.

According to court sources, she was arrested from his house on October 23, 2016 by the District Narcotics Control Department. At that time, they recovered 48 grams of heroin contained in from 800 small packs from her.

Later, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Narcotics Control Department Enamul Haque filed a case with Goalanda Police Station. The judge pronounced the verdict after witnesses testified in the case.
