Dhaka: The defeated forces of the war of liberation wanted to destroy the existence of Bangladesh by killing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Therefore, the Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad (BAAP) has demanded the formation of a commission to try those involved in the August 15 killings.

The speakers made the demand at a special virtual webinar organized by BAAP on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Wednesday (August 26) night.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Haque, Convener of BAAP and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Attorney General Mahbube Alam, Fisheries and Livestock Minister S.M. Rezaul Karim, Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Amin Uddin, Awami League Legal Affairs Secretary Advocate Kazi Najibullah Hiru, Abdul Matin Khasru MP, Advocate Kamrul Islam and others participated in the discussion.

Law Minister Anisul Haque said, we saw during the trial of Bangabandhu's murder case, witnesses said - when Bangabandhu was killed, he said kill me here. But a man made a last effort to save his life. But he did not. Bangamata told the killers, kill me here, I will not go anywhere. Bangabandhu taught that the infrastructure needed to run a country is a constitution. Whenever a country was emerging, Bangabandhu was assassinated.

Bangabandhu's unfinished autobiography, prisons diary, People's China, we have miraculously received from Bangabandhu. Reading these books, it seems that Bangabandhu is with us. We have to read these books and also teach the new generation. Competitive events on books should be organized on radio and TV and the winners should be rewarded. In this way the new generation will be inspired to know Bangabandhu.

S.M. Rezaul Karim said that the most heinous thing was that Ziaur Rahman signed the Indemnity Ordinance on April 9, 1979, which came up in Parliament on April 6. Ziaur Rahman indulged the murderers of Bangabandhu through this law. Similarly, Khaleda Zia helped assassinate Sheikh Hasina on 21 August 2004. In the same way that Zia helped the killers of the Father of the Nation, his wife Khaleda Zia indulged in the grenade attack on August 21. The report should be made public by forming a commission on those who misled the army and achieved their interests. If the nation does not recognize the real culprits while the Awami League is in power, then the mask of national traitors will never be exposed. On the 21st of August, Khaleda Zia tried to assassinate the people's leader Sheikh Hasina and helped the killers to flee the country. Now I think, if Sheikh Hasina is not protected, Bangladesh will not be protected; Bangabandhu's ideology will not be protected, in the same way Bangladesh of the spirit of liberation war will not be protected.

Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Amin Uddin said that the defeated forces of 1971 wanted to destroy the existence of Bangladesh by killing Bangabandhu. But their purpose did not succeed. He directed the law minister to immediately form a commission to conduct a posthumous trial on all those involved in the killings, including Zia. So that the nation can know who was behind this murder.

Advocate Kazi Najibullah Hiru, Legal Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League agreed with AM Amin Uddin, President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and requested the law minister to form a commission immediately.

Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh in his speech demanded posthumous trial of Ziaur Rahman. For twenty-one years we have not received a trial for the murder of our parents. This is the demand of a victim that injustice will be judged.
