Dhaka: Critically injured Dinajpur's Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam has regained consciousness after undergoing surgery. She is currently under observation by doctors in the ICU of the hospital.
This was stated by the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Neuroscience Hospital, Prof. Dr. Badrul Alam on Friday (September 4) at 11:15 am while talking to reporters.
He said that although his condition was stable at present, it was not yet time to make an overall decision on her health. After further observation, a decision will be taken by the medical board. However, her condition is stable at present.
He added that UNO Waheeda was shifted from the operation theater to the ICU the night after the surgery on her head. Her consciousness returned at night. She is currently under observation in the ICU.

Earlier on Thursday (September 3) night, an eight-member medical team performed a complicated operation on UNO Wahid's head in a two-hour effort.
After the surgery, the doctors kept her under observation for 72 hours. Though she is hopeful of an immediate recovery still she is not out of danger, the doctor added.
