A 7 - year old boy died and at least 39 devotees suffered burn injuries after an air conditioner burst at the Baitus Salam Jame Mosque in Naryanganj’s Sadar upazilla after esha prayers on Friday evening.
Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed that a seven-year-old boy named Jewel died after being admitted with 95 percent burns. The 39 injured have been admitted to the institute for treatment, he added.
Most of the patients were admitted to the institute with major burns on their bodies, he said, adding that the condition of many patients is critical. Dhaka Medical College Police Outpost in charge Bachchu Mia confirmed that so far 37 have been admitted.
