Dhaka: Death toll increased to 16 with the death of four more people in the AC blast at a mosque in Narayanganj. They died while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Police Inspector in-charge of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital Bachchu Mia confirmed the information to Barta24.com on Saturday (September 5).
Meanwhile, the director of the institute, Professor Abul Kalam, confirmed the deaths of 16 people. He said the condition of the remaining 21 burnt people was critical. Most of the burn victims have burnt 60 to 70 percent of their bodies with the damage of their respiratory system.
It may be mentioned that an AC explosion took place at Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Paschimatalla area of Fatulla in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila around 9:15 pm on Friday night. Around this time 37 devotees attending Esha prayer received serious burn injury who were rushed DMCH for treatment
