Probe committee on Sinha murder to submit report today

Dhaka: The report of the inquiry committee formed by the Home Ministry in the murder case of retired Major(Rtd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan has been prepared. Twelve recommendations have also been added to the 80-page report.

It will be submitted on Monday (September 7).

Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said this at a press briefing at Hildown Circuit House in Cox's Bazar on Saturday evening. After extending the time for four times, the investigation report is being submitted after 35 days.

At the press briefing, the Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chottogram said, "We have mentioned the source of the incident in the report. The report also recommends that such incidents do not happen again.

Briefing investigation committee member Lt. Colonel Mohammad Sajjad said, ‘the murder of Major (Rtd) Sinha has hurt everyone's conscience. Being a member of the law enforcement agencies, you should respect the law and abide by the chain of command. '

He said, we should not become predators by being the guardians of the law. We can prove the trust and confidence that the government has placed in us with arms.

We need to make sure that government weapons do not turn us into monsters, he added.

It was informed in the briefing that the committee has already completed the overall activities in this regard to submit the investigation report to the Home Ministry.

Mizanur Rahman, head of the committee, said the investigation report was complete. Along with this a recommendation has also been formulated. Both will be submitted to the Home Ministry.

Retired Major (Retd) Sinha was shot dead by police in Baharchhara, Teknaf on July 31.

The government fixed 7 working days for the submission of the investigation report to the committee. Even then the time was extended in three phases.
