Titas Gas suspends 8 officials in Naryanganj mosque blast incident

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company have suspended eight people, including four officials, in connection with the blast at a mosque in Narayanganj.

Ali Md. Al Mamun, managing director of Titas Gas, confirmed this information to Barta24.com.

He said the mosque involved in the accident was under the Fatullah Regional Office. The manager, deputy manager, two engineers and four staff members of the emergency response team have been suspended due to negligence of duty.

The temporary dismissed from Titas are - Manager Mohammad Sirajul Islam, Deputy Manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, Assistant Engineer S.M. Hasan Shahriar, Assistant Engineer Manik Mia, Senior Supervisor Md. Manibur Rahman Chowdhury, Senior Developer Md. Ayub Ali, Assistant Md. Hanif Mia and Staff Md. Ismail Pradhan.

On the night of September 4, an explosion took place at the Baitus Salat Mosque on the Paschim Talla of Narayanganj. It killed 26 people. Allegedly, the accident happened due to a pipe line leakage of Titas gas. Although they informed Titas about the gas pipe leak, they demanded a bribe. The line was not repaired because no bribe was paid.
