Seven people were killed in a triangular collision between a bus, a covered van and an ambulance in Atipara area of Barisal's Uzirpur upazila.
The accident took place around 4:30 pm on Wednesday (September 9). The identities of the dead were not immediately available.
OC of Uzirpur police station in Ziaul Hasan has confirmed the accident.
He said a family of six was returning to Jhalakati with a dead newborn baby in an ambulance from Dhaka.
On reaching Atipara area on the way, the ambulance collided head-on with a covered van coming from Barisal. At the same time, the ambulance was twisted by a GM transport bus. Six members of the newborn's family and the driver of the ambulance, died on the spot.
