Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya has claimed that former gardener of Ghoraghat UNO Wahida Khanam attacked on her on the night September 2 at the UNO’s residence.
Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya said this at a press conference on Saturday (September 12).
Devdas Bhattacharya said Rabiul Islam Faras, a former gardener UNO, had admitted to being involved in the attack. Based on the information provided by him, the police have recovered the ladder and hammer used in the attack.
"We are working tirelessly to identify those involved in the crime," the DIG said. We are conducting this investigation under the direction and direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police.
Earlier, after arresting three people, including a local Juba League leader, in the incident, the RAB said that they had entered the house and carried out the attack with the intention of stealing. At that time, RAB-13 Commander Reza Ahmed Ferdous said that Asadul had told them during interrogation that Nabirul was the mastermind of the incident. He also admitted that Nabirul was the person seen in the CCTV footage.
Helaluddin Ahmed, president of the Bangladesh Administration Service Association and senior secretary of the local government division reacted angrily after the incident. He said they were sure it was not a theft because the miscreants did not steal any kind of thing or property. This is a planned attack and many more people might be involved in the gruesome attack.
Later, after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, President and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters, "The burglary at UNO's house was not credible to the people." I have instructed the intelligence agencies to further investigate the cause of the attack. "
After that DB police started investigating the case. A few days later, after the UNO office former gardener was arrested, police said that the same employee had carried out the attack on UNO.
It may be mentioned that on the night of September 2, UNO Wahida Khanam and her father were randomly beaten by miscreants at the dead of night. The incident took place at UNO's official residence.
