Govt. does not think for another lockdown

Dhaka: The government is not thinking of another lockdown to keep the economy afloat.


Cabinet Secretary Khondoker Anwarul Islam told reporters after the inter-ministerial meeting on Tuesday (September 22).


He said there would be widespread awareness about the second wave of corona. Health guidelines must be followed. Monitoring of entry and exit of people at the airport will be increased. The government is not thinking of another lockdown to keep the economy afloat.

 

Ministries have also been asked to submit their own plans to the cabinet division within seven days to prevent a second wave of corona.


He added that the army would be in charge of monitoring arrivals and departures at airports.
The cabinet secretary said, ‘If (the second wave of corona) comes, we have divided the total program. Work plan must be ready.

 

The clinical side will be prepared by our experts, if the disease spreads how will be its treatment plan. The supplementary clinical site, as asthma, pneumonia, influenza will be more prevalent during the winter, should also be immediately made aware of it and a treatment plan should be prepared for it. '


He added, ‘We have to run a massive motivational campaign, so that everyone wears a mask. So that everyone maintains the distance. Everyone shall have to follow health guidelines. Enforcement side, field administration, local government, police, army - work plan will be done on how to do it (their own work). A lot of people are coming and going from outside the country, he said. There is a big team of armed forces at the airport; they are taking care of it. '


The prime minister has given instructions, he said. We will sit down and work out a work plan. '


Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Md. Mahfuzur Rahman said, ‘What we are doing now is in collaboration with the Civil Administration and the Foreign Ministry. There are people from the Ministry of Health at the airport and at various entrances. Many returning from abroad bring certificates that they are Covid free. Those who did not bring it brought a certificate stating how long they had been in the home quarantine. Those who have no such certificate, nothing and those who are suspected, we take them to the institutional quarantine. There are Diabari and Haji camps (quarantine system) in Dhaka. '


It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also instructed in the cabinet meeting to get prepared to handle the corona situation in view of worsening of the corona situation in October- November.
