In Hemayetpur, Savar, two people died while undergoing treatment after being burnt in an explosion due to a gas leak taken illegally.
Sub-inspector of Dhaka Medical College Hospital(DMCH) police outpost Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter on Friday (September 25) night. Earlier, they died at noon on Friday (September 25) while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of DMCH.
The deceased were identified as Farid Hossain of Gopalganj district and Saiful Islam of Kushtia district. They are known as tile masons. Another person named Habib injured in this incident is undergoing treatment.
Police said an explosion occurred at Masud Hossain's house in Molla Para area of Hemayetpur in Savar while cooking on Friday morning. Three people were burnt in the incident. After rescuing them, they were admitted to the burn unit of DMCH. Two of them died while undergoing treatment. The other is undergoing treatment. It is thought the fire may have been caused by a leak in the gas line in the room while cooking.
Jahidul Islam, inspector of the tannery police outpost of Savar Model Police Station, said the accident may have happened while cooking in the morning. In this case, legal action will be taken by contacting the family.
