Dhaka: Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that the closure of educational institutions is to be extended due to coronavirus.

She made the remarks at a virtual press conference on various issues of corona period education on Wednesday (September 30) at 1pm.

On whether the closure will extend, she said, the closure is going to extended in the context of the current situation. I have to extend the closure. I will let you know the date soon.

Asked about the guidelines for opening educational institutions, she said, "We have to decide how to open educational institutions." The Ministry of Health also has guidelines. After the opening of the educational institution, no one came to the educational institution if any body in infected then it will be said that it is due to the opening of the educational institution. So we are focusing on ensuring the safety of the students and ensuring their education. All parents and students are thinking about it.

Regarding the annual exams and other exams, she said, "Everyone has questions about the annual exams, the upcoming SSC and many other exams." But nothing can be said about these exams right now. We have a meeting soon; there will be a decision on this. We are now thinking of various options, giving auto promotion without any exam; Giving promotion with the exam again. We are working on all issues. I will be able to inform about this soon. Let us observe the situation in all countries.

Regarding the opening of colleges and universities, she said, "In opening colleges and universities, we are doing everything keeping in view the health of all the teachers and students." At the same time, I am keeping an eye on the educational activities so that they are not harmed. The decision will be taken considering all aspects.

The education minister said, “We have gradually extended the leave during corona. It was not possible without it. There is no reason to extend at once without increasing it step by step.

 

Students are also studying online; they have contact with their teachers. We want everything to get better quickly; we want to get back to normal as soon as possible

Regarding the "O" level examinations, she said, "There are 1800 candidates for the" O "level every day. There are a total of 6 thousand students at more than 35 of their exam centers. So it will be much easier for them to work according to the hygiene rules. They have been given all the conditions. And those who can't appear by October, they can't appear before May.

In the case of Qaumi, she said, one of the issues about opening Qaumi Madrasa is that they are mostly residential. They have said that they will run the education activities in compliance with the health rules. That's why they got permission from us. However, they have been allowed to comply with the hygiene rules. So there is no problem.

Answering the question of the journalists about the managing committee in the educational institution, she said, there are many problems with the managing committee. There are so many educational institutions all over the country; they have many kinds of problems. There is a policy on this. A parliamentary sub-committee has been set up to finalize it. They will be able to finalize it by December.

Regarding MC College incident, she said, "We are looking into the incident at MC College." We started taking all measures as soon as the incident happens. We are working on what we can do to prevent recurrence of such situation.

Regarding the irregularities in private universities, she said, "We are repeatedly urging those who are not going to their own campuses." Some have already moved to permanent campuses. However, if there is any allegation of irregularity against anyone, it will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken.

It may be mentioned here that all the educational institutions of the country have been on holiday since March 16 due to corona. According to the latest announcement, the closure is continuing till October 3.
