Terrorists grievously injure mother and daughter

Terrorists indiscriminately hacked the wife of the expatriate Maryam Begum and her daughter Sadia Akhter. Maryam's right wrist, four fingers were severed there were bloody wounds on her head. Daughter Sadia was stabbed in the head and neck with a sharp weapon.

The incident took place at Balaishpur village in Bashikpur union of Sadar upazila around 9pm on Saturday (October 3).

Police have arrested two people for questioning in the incident. Lakshmipur police superintendent Dr. AHM Kamruzzaman visited the spot. However, the police could not say for sure what caused the incident.

Meanwhile, the injured mother and daughter were rescued and first taken to Sadar Hospital for first aid. Later they were sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

According to locals and police, Nabi Ullah of Dewan Bari in Balaishpur village lives in Saudi Arabia. His wife Maryam lives at home with her school-going daughter Sadia. Sadia is a third grader at a local school. At the time of the incident, the terrorists entered the house and started stabbing the mother and daughter at random. The mother's right wrist, four fingers were severed and the head was bloodied. The girl was hit in the head and neck with a sharp weapon. At one stage, hearing their screams, the people of the area rescued them in critical condition and brought them to the hospital.

According to local Amanat Ullah, the mother and daughter were found lying on the ground in a bloody state after entering the house. At that time, Maryam fainted because Zahid of the next house had stabbed them. They were later rescued and brought to the hospital.

Doctor on duty at Sadar Hospital Asif Mahmud said the mother and daughter were brought to the hospital in a bloody condition. They suffered serious injuries to various parts of the body, including limbs. They have been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraganj Police Station Jasim Uddin said it was not known who or what caused the incident. However, two people have been detained for questioning. The raid is going on in this incident.
