No procession at the time of immersion of ‘Devi Durga’

Dhaka: No procession can be held at the time of the immersion of ‘Devi Durga’ Idol. While entering the Puja mandapa, one has to maintain social distance in the context of Covid-19 and ensure hygiene. Hand washing and sanitizer, use of mask must have been made mandatory.

These decisions were taken at a virtual meeting chaired by the Home Minister on Sunday (October 4) to discuss security, law and order situation and relevant issues on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja 2020 in the meeting room of the Home Ministry.

It was also requested to limit the number of Puja mandapas as much as possible. The leaders of the nationwide Sarbojonin Puja Udjapan Committee(SPUC) will take action in this regard. Members of the law enforcement will be on mobile duty to deal with law and order.

To reduce the Puja mandapa, public gatherings, the SPUC may take steps to broadcast the Anjali offering program live on the TV channel. We have to perform various ceremonies while maintaining religious harmony.

It was informed that the Ministry of Information will cooperate in disseminating other directives in the media including restricting public gatherings. Everyone should be aware of the second wave of corona. The SPUC will coordinate with the local administration and law enforcement in the management of the Puja mandapa. In case of any emergency SPUC has been asked to take 999 services.

The meeting was virtually attended by Senior Secretary, Division of Public Security, Principal Staff Officer of Ministry of Home Affairs, Armed Forces division, Secretary of Army Headquarters, Division of Security Services, Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Secretary, Ministry of Information, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Coast Guard, Ansar and VDP. Senior officials of NSI, Fire Service and Civil Defense and officials of concerned ministries were connected.
