The Election Commission (EC) has filed a case against Independent MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon of Faridpur -4 for violating the election code of conduct.On Thursday (October 15) at 10 am, the district senior election officer, Nawabul Islam, filed the case with the Charbhadrasan police station. He confirmed this to Barta24.com.
In the case it has been requested to take legal action against Nixon Choudhury in accordance with the Upazila Parishad Election Rules 2013 and the Upazila Parishad (Election Conduct) Rules 2016.
Earlier on Wednesday (October 14) after meeting with law enforcement agencies on the elections in Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-18 seats, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that the EC and a three-member investigation committee will be formed to prosecute MP Nixon for his non-compliance.
An audio of Nixon Chowdhury and Charbhadrasan UNO Jasmine Sultana's conversation went viral in the social media during the by-election to the chairmanship of the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishsd in Faridpur last Saturday (October 10).

A victory rally was held at the local Awami League office in Charbhadrasan Upazila Sadar in the evening after the election. There, MP Nixon Chowdhury warned the DC Atul Sarkar.He threatened DC, "If I take the lead, you won't have a chance to breathe for a minute."
