State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism MD. Mahbub Ali said it was necessary to establish a field of regional cooperation for the development of the tourism industry in the region in the future. The tourism industry in the region will be able to overcome the catastrophe caused by Covid-19 through the mutual travel of the people of the neighboring friendly countries. Mutual cooperation in the tourism and aviation sectors will help achieve both goals.
He made the remarks during a meeting with newly-appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy at the State Minister's Office Room at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Secretariat on Thursday (October 15).
The State Minister further said that this strong friendship between Bangladesh and India has a long history. The people of Bangladesh have always remembered the contribution of the Indian people in the great war of liberation with gratitude. The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to further develop relations between the people of the two friendly countries.
He said that the air bubble management would re-establish the communication system between the two countries by re-opening the air communication which was closed due to Covid-19. This will make the travel of the people of the two countries easier and more comfortable.
During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner said that the relations between Bangladesh and India are based on strong foundations. Day by day this relationship is getting stronger. Strong relations will play a role in the welfare of the people of the two countries. Through the management of air bubble, the communication between the people of the two countries will be further enhanced through the resumption of air communication which was suspended due to Covid-19. He also proposed to launch Agartala-Dhaka-Agartala flight and work on digitization in all airports of Bangladesh.
Noting that Covid-19 has affected Indian airlines as well as the rest of the world, Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy requested for some time to reduce all normal charges of Indian airlines using Bangladeshi airports.
